Once you get the 3.1 update, you can also plug in other USB devices into your Xoom! So far I've tried a mouse (it's weird to see a mouse pointer on there), and a PS3 Controller. The use of game controllers alone makes this dongle well worth the money! It works well with emulators you can find in the market, and I'm sure more games will be supporting the hardware in the future.
This connector is specially wired to put the XOOM in USB host mode. I tried using common adapters to duplicate this configuration, and they did not work as they were not wired for the XOOM's host mode.
I have used this to connect a standard USB keyboard and a mouse. It also worked to transfer JPG pictures from my Canon Rebel XT and Canon SD700 into the Gallery app. It did not recognize or transfer RAW pictures, and I don't believe there is currently an app that will display them anyway.
