This is my third Droid car dock (droid, droid 2, droid 3). They are significantly more expensive than a generic car dock but i like that this it specific to my phone. It comes with a car charger and, new with this generation, is an audio cable that can connect to your aux input for your car stereo to play music from your phone. Another improvement is the charger jack on the back of the dock. The droid 2 version required that you stick the plug straight into the jack on the back of the dock creating a awkward angle for the plug and stretching the jack input. This version connects from the side alleviating this issue. The dock seems sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break easily.
One note...I think this is a phone issue rather than the dock but it's worth mentioning. With the Droid and Droid 2 versions, the phone automatically detected that it was in the dock and when into "Car Mode" which is Droid-speak for Navigation. With my Droid 3, this is not the case. I have to unlock the phone and find the Car Mode app and launch it which is kind of a hassle.

This is a great product - well-constructed, sturdy, easy to use. It will hold the Droid 3 securely with or without a cover. Including the power hookup as an incorporated piece of the car dock, along with the combination of the charger cord and the audio cable makes for a cleaner implementation and a definite improvement over the car dock that went with the original Droid. If you want to mount your Droid 3 for navigation or easy access to phone features, do not hesitate to buy this product. You won't be disappointed.
